Sonoma County Perinatal Services Guide

New Parents Need Resources

Emily VanWoerkom, LMFT
CPI Counseling Services Manager

Becoming a parent is one of the most exhilarating and challenging tasks we will take on in our lifetime.

Whether this is your first child, or your fifth child - each new parenting experience brings with it new joys and difficulties. Pregnancy, birth, and parenting through COVID has shown us both the strength of parents and families, as well as their need for services and supports.

There is no one size fits all approach to parenting, and no one resource that works for everyone. We have created this list of services, resources, and supports for parents to help them find the support they need as a starting point, one which parents can build off of and use to meet their goals.

Often, parents are hesitant to ask for help and try to shoulder the burdens of child rearing by themselves.

Our hope is that by opening this resource guide - you as a parent - realize that seeking support is a strength, and that there are people ready to respond. Sonoma County is a community, and communities care for one another.

So whether you are in need of financial assistance, housing support, struggling to find childcare, seeking community, or are finding that your stress and mental health are becoming overwhelming - you have come to the right place, and we hope that the supports you find here strengthen your family.
