Resource / Foster Parent Pre-Service Training

Resource Parents (Foster Parents) are required to complete pre-service training. Pre-service training is designed so resource families can learn to meet the needs of children in foster care.

Training Descriptions
- Module 1 Course Objectives: Resource family approval, child welfare services, safety, permanency and well-being, and concurrent planning.
- Module 2 Course Objectives: Members of the professional team, cultural humility, personal rights, prudent parent standard, and confidentiality.
- Module 3 Course Objectives: Developmental domains, SOGIE, Nature vs Nurture, attachment, and the needs of children and youth in foster care.
- Module 4 Course Objectives: Supervised visitations, boundaries, punishment vs discipline, managing emotional and behavioral needs, and psychotropic medication.
- Module 5 Course Objectives: Types of childhood trauma, traumatic stress response cycle, understanding trauma triggers, and the impact of trauma exposure.
- Module 6 Course Objectives: Grief and loss, transitions, vicarious trauma, and resiliency.
All classes are free of charge; light snacks will be provided.
