Classes

Parenting Classes at CPI

CPI offers classes to parents of children ages 0-18. Each class is led by a trained parent educator who provides tools that parents can adapt to their own family's needs. All CPI classes have a strong child development foundation, supporting the belief that each child and parent brings unique needs and temperament to family life.

Although many classes are held at the Parent Education Center in southwest Santa Rosa, others are conveniently located throughout Sonoma County.

Classes include Guiding your Toddler and Preschooler, Positive Parenting. In addition, classes involving infants and toddlers, such as Infant Massage and Billingual Playgroups, are attended by parents and children together.

Cost is per person unless otherwise indicated. Unless noted parents DO NOT attend with child. Childcare is not provided and children may not be left unattended. Classes are held at our Parent Education Center, 3642 Standish Ave, Santa Rosa, CA

Free classes are under the Special Topics below, select check option for payment to finalize, registration is required to ensure we have enough space for all participants at each community location.

Co-Parenting

Raising a Child with an Ex-Partner

This one-evening workshop helps separating and divorcing parents address the challenge of raising children in two households. Learn how to manage a new, co-parenting relationship in ways that reduce conflict and protect children. The workshop offer strategies that can produce greater cooperation between parenting partners.

Kids Turn (Parents Fee Only)

Kids’ Turn of Sonoma County is an educational program to help families deal with issues arising from separation or divorce. Children and teens ages 5 through 14  (4 or15yr olds may be allowed on case by case basis)  meet in small groups according to age. Both parents are encouraged to attend, at least one parent must participate. Any questions regarding this program you can contact Dayna Adams, dayna@calparents.org

Advanced registration for the Kids’ Turn program is required Fall session will be closing August 15th (space is limited), once registered all adults will be given a registration packet to be completed.

Call 585-6108x1240 for any questions, to be added to interest list only (no payment needed for that). Note: Kids’ Turn September, 2017 will be offered in English and Spanish (separate groups).

Parenting for All Ages, Triple P Groups

A Triple P Group class, based on Positive Parenting Program. Triple P is a parenting program, but it doesn’t tell you how to be a parent. It’s more like a toolbox of ideas. You choose the strategies you need. You choose the way you want to use them.

It’s all about making Triple P work for you. Triple P is now used in 25 countries.

Parenting and Coping with Stress

Fridays| September 15 - October 20 | 6:30-8:00 pm

Join other parents in a group session, focused on helping parents develop appropriate coping skills while managing events in their lives that cause tension and impact how they may be parenting their children. Each parent will develop their specific individual strategy to assist them in coping and challenging unhelpful thoughts.

Managing Family Anger

Monday | October 23 - November 13 | 6:00-8:00 pm

This class explores the causes of anger in family relationships and offers positive strategies for managing angry feelings.  The curriculum demonstrates how to improve family communication and engender greater trust and cooperation among parents and children.  Parents will learn how to manage their own anger and how to model effective anger management strategies for children of all ages.

Classes will be held at YMCA, 1111 College Ave, Santa Rosa Ca 95404. Pre-regstration is necessary for offsite classes.
