RESILIENCY AND PROTECTIVE FACTORS BOOKMARKS
All parents experience stress from time to time. But parents can develop resilience to help them manage stressful situations and move themselves and their families toward healthy, positive outcomes.
Resilience comes through exposure to challenging life events, facilitated by supportive relationships and environments. These can be people, cultures, institutions, conditions and policies.
The outcome of resilience is positive change and growth. Resilience is when a person or family is able to successfully adapt in spite of current or past trauma.
Find those people, cultures, institutions, conditions and policies that can help you and your family. When parents ask for help, it is a step toward building resilience.
The Child Abuse Prevention Councils throughout the Greater Bay Area work to support parents and families.
Greater Bay Area CAPC Coalition Policy Platform
The Coalition has developed a Policy Platform to guide its advocacy and education efforts.
ENOUGH ABUSE GREATER BAY AREA CAMPAIGN
In 2012 we began the Enough Abuse Campaign to build a true community movement against child sexual abuse. Educating adults to recognize, prevent, and intervene in abusive situations is the only way that child sexual abuse will end. We held trainings throughout the region to educate community members on how each person can play a part in preventing child sexual abuse.
The Campaign was a collaborative effort between the Greater Bay Area Child Abuse Prevention Council Coalition (Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Monterey, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Solano, and Sonoma counties), Partners in Prevention, and the Center for Innovation and Resources, Inc. The Campaign launched with startup funding from the Columbia Foundation with additional support from Partners in Prevention, and in-kind support from the Coalition.
