 ><p>Drug and Alcohol Exposed Infants and Children</p>\n<p>Presented by: Ju
 dith Lefler\, Public Health Nurse\, RN\, PHN\, CLNC</p>\n\n<p>This three-h
 our module will train professionals on the care of Drug and Alcohol Expose
 d Infants. Trainees will learn about the effects of stimulants\, opiates a
 nd alcohol and how each affects a child differently\, both long and short 
 term. Participants will learn about interventions and will be able to appl
 y them through the use of scenarios. A good portion of this training will 
 also focus on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder\, how to identify and strate
 gies for intervention.</p>\n\n<p>Ms. Lefler\, who retired in June of 2015\
 , was the Assistant Director of the Bay Area Academy from 2002 to 2015. Pr
 ior to that\, she was a supervising Public Health Nurse in San Francisco c
 hild welfare. Ms. Lefler has been consulting and training for over 40 year
 s. She specializes in Child Maltreatment\, drug and alcohol exposed infant
 s\, infant mental health\, trauma\, teaming and interdisciplinary practice
 . She is also certified as a Legal Nurse Consultant and has served as a me
 dical guardian ad litem for Solano County Superior Court. Ms. Lefler has b
 een an active participant in many statewide committees including but not l
 imited to: CSEC\, California Practice Model\, CORE 3.0\, Fostering Connect
 ions\, Bay Area Regional Children’s Committee and the Child Welfare Direct
 ors Association.  After her retirement\, she has continued to train for th
 e Bay Area Academy. </p>
